DUKE RESIDENTS VISUWALLISE - LAUNCHED AND READY FOR BUSINESS

24/01/18

VISUWALLISE joined Duke in the summer of 2017 via the Leeds Arts University mentoring scheme. It is a provision set up by the university and ourselves - to help recent graduates get a business off the ground with access to a studio for 6 months and up to 8 hours per month of one to one bespoke mentoring with Duke founders James and Laura.

VISUWALLISE themselves are a collective of expert wall artists with their handy caption - Where there's a wall, there's a way. They specialise in designing and producing large artwork for both interior and exterior spaces. Their aim- to bring colour, joy and smiles to any wall they come into contact with.

This was something that resonated very well with us here at Duke, and we soon got them to task in bringing some sushine to a few spaces in our locality. Client led briefs, and the opportunity to take on a wall to create the story of their launch and brighten up SouthBank. Video can be seen below.

Here is what the wonderful chaps Ian, George and Thomas had to say about us:

“The environment at Duke Studios is great, really positive with good vibes. The staff and other residences are really friendly and engaging. The residency at Duke gave the opportunity to allow our business to grow organically, taking away some the pressure and financial constraints that would normally limit recent graduates.

If you have a good business idea but need the time, space and support to get it off the ground then I’d recommend Duke Studios 100%!”

If you have graduated from Leeds Arts University in the last 3 years, have a brilliant idea for a creative business, and would like the opportunity of a mentored space at Duke Studios keep your eyes open for announcements. More information can be found on the Leeds Arts University page here. Past LAU graduates have included Passport, Hungry Sandwich Club Re-vive Spaces Made by Alphabet Joe Boyd and Opal Video. Duke studios would simply not be the same without these bright wonderful residents of past and present.
