Duke Studios successful in Round 2 of Leeds Tech Hub Fund

02/08/17

We are happy to announce that we have been successful in the 2nd round of the Leeds Tech Hub fund.

Duke Studios has been awarded £393,000 from the Leeds City Council-run fund to upgrade our warehouse space at Sheaf Street into a new digital and technology event centre. It will boast state-of-the-art projection, sound and streaming facilities as well as an innovation lab that will allow the rapid creation of physical objects after they are designed on screen.

Leeds currently has a dramatic lack of quality, high spec event and conferencing space that is geared toward the Tech/Digital//Creative Sector. It also has very minimal access to new innovation and fabrication technologies for individuals, SMEs and graduates.

The Digital and Technology Event Centre plus Innovation Lab will address these market failures. Duke Studios will create a flagship, market leading, industry standard events and meeting centre that will put Leeds on the map and service the growing tech sector in the region.

The Innovation Lab will provide access to cutting edge technologies for local start-ups, established companies and members of the public looking to compete on a world scale. Enhancing and expanding the capacity of Duke Studios existing tech hub offer will support a greater number of digital entrepreneurs, start-ups and growing SMEs in Leeds.

This is the first time that Duke Studios has received any capital funding, so we're really excited to be able to take the work we've already been doing in the last 6 years to the next level.

We will announce full details of our plans at a later stage so watch this space.
