Event recap - Inner City Electronic

13/06/18

Well, Sheaf St's first ever inner city electronic was nothing short of epic. What a day!

It shaped up a little like this. We hosted a daytime of talks and showcases with all the big players: Pioneer DJAbletonAkai ProfessionalDenonTPI SoundLondon Modular Alliance. Curated by the Leeds-based Bop DJ and polished off by a masterclass with live electronic legend KiNK

Running alongside all this was an 11 hour long 'Yarden Party' with Matt Long, Simon Morell, Bobby Pleasure, Ron Basejam, Danielle Moore and PBR Streetgang.

Then followed 6 hours of club night in the Event Space with Back To Basics - Dave Beer, Crazy P Soundsystem and Horse Meat Disco! PHEW.

So, so many highlights but a few that stood out for us:

1. KiNK – officially the nicest man in dance music, encountering some serious technical difficulties with his kit but soldiering on to create some immense beats including playing a mixer with nothing plugged into it (yep!) and a really insightful and honest interview.

2. PBR Streetgang fresh from their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix packing out ‘The Yarden’ and closing our outdoor party with 2 hours of local Leeds talent.

3. Crazy P Soundsystem whipping the Event Space into a storm, with Danielle standing on the speakers doing her stuff.

We want to give a massive thanks to all the artists, to those in the Sheaf St team and the inner city electronic team. Our Events Manager Sam and Bar Manager Kay, the artist liaison, assistants, security, bar staff and technicians. There were some absolutely mammoth shifts put in to ensure everything went smoothly and everyone was safe.

So much hard work goes into pulling something like this off, hats off to the guys behind the whole festival - Ralph Lawson, Ben Thompson, Kag Katumba, and the whole team.

But the most thanks must go to the party people. We can organise and facilitate all the good times but it’s you, the people who attend that make the party, it's nothing without all the dancing faces. Thank you for coming out and thank you for spending time with us.

It was a stunning first year for inner city electronic, a big shout out to all our friends at the other participating Leeds venues - we put on quite a show! Leeds really is one of the very best clubbing cities in the world and as a very young venue, we’re honoured to have been involved. We hope this goes on to be an annual event and we get the opportunity take on everything learned this year, improve where we can and top a cracking debut year.
