Yoga in the Yarden with Lucyoga

Lucyoga ( is bringing her brand of no stress yoga to Duke Studios. This is fun, relaxing yoga that’s suitable for all body types and levels of experience, set to carefully crafted playlists – you’ll likely be warming up to Donna Summer, The Pixies or Hookworms, or relaxing to Brian Eno, Alice Coltrane or Miles Davis (definitely not Enya or whale noises!).

Everyone is welcome to Lucy’s classes and she teaches a fully instructed class that doesn’t require any prior knowledge of yoga (so great for beginners), and if you need adaptions for fitness level, injury or health conditions, that’s fine too. The sessions are upbeat and not too serious, except for the intention to make you feel less stressed and more stretched when you leave.

For those with more yoga experience this is a chance to try a new style, one that focuses on your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. It draws on traditions of Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Pilates and challenges you through slower, flowing movements that allow the mind to release the chatter and stress.

Lucy’s style is called Dru Yoga and has been described thus: “Dru Yoga seems to be all about restoration and inclusiveness. Movements are slow, deliberate and therapeutic, and focus is very much on establishing a mind-body connection to enhance overall feelings of relaxation. You are encouraged to reach the stage you are able to, working with and accepting your abilities, rather than fighting your natural capabilities, trying to show off, and slipping a disc.”

Lucy taught the daily yoga sessions at Beacons Festival last year, curating her playlists to match the line-up each day and ran the incredibly popular Rooftop Yoga Peckham ( on top of a multi-story car park for the last two summers. She’s just come back to Leeds after a few years in south London and is very excited to be relocating her popular classes to Duke Studios.

Yoga will take place outside in the Yarden whenever possible, or in the event space if the weather is not suitable.
